# Vision and scope

## Vision

Universal Science Discovery is a disciplined home for cross-domain scientific exploration: hypotheses, evidence, methods, and reproducible artifacts live together with clear separation between **what we believe**, **what we have shown**, and **what we are trying to falsify**.

## In scope

- Documented hypotheses, methods, protocols, and analysis notes.
- Scripts, notebooks, and small tools that support reproducibility.
- Summaries of literature and structured argument maps where they inform active threads.
- Versioned non-sensitive datasets or **references** to external datasets with provenance.

## Out of scope (for this repository)

- Raw restricted or identifiable human data committed to git.
- Undocumented “final truth” claims without methods and limitations.
- Production services, secrets, or credentials.

## Active threads

Track active hypotheses and investigation threads in GitHub Issues using the **finding review** template or a dedicated label (see [COLLABORATION_AND_REVIEWS.md](COLLABORATION_AND_REVIEWS.md)). Optionally maintain a short index in README once threads multiply.

## Terminology

- **Hypothesis:** A testable statement; not yet established.
- **Finding:** A conclusion tied to explicit evidence and methods; may be overturned.
- **Speculation:** Clearly labeled exploration; must not be presented as findings.
